A True Paradise
Just a short drive from downtown, Dunedin’s beaches are a perfect getaway for everyone—from sun-seekers and shell collectors to outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. You’ll find osprey nests, a variety of shorebirds, and one of South Florida’s few remaining virgin slash pine forests. The area is also home to several nature trails and bird-watching spots. So, whether you prefer swimming, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, or paddleboarding, the warm waters of the Gulf have something for everyone. Pack a picnic and take in the breathtaking views while enjoying your day by the water.
THINGS TO DO
Honeymoon Island
is a shell collector’s dream, with the Gulf ’s currents bringing a wide variety of seashells to its shores. The island also features the Rotary Centennial Nature Center, Café Honeymoon, and the South Beach Wedding and Special Event Pavilion. And if you’re traveling with your furry friend, you’ll be glad to know that both Dunedin and Honeymoon Island are dog-friendly, offering a pet beach where you and your canine companion can enjoy the sand and surf together.
Caladesi Island
Caladesi Island (currently closed) is one of the few untouched gems in Florida. Its white sandy beaches have been named America’s Best Beach. For those who enjoy fishing, you can cast your line right from your boat or try your luck with surf fishing. The park also offers a marina with water and electric hookups, along with a café and a gift shop for snacks and souvenirs. The island is only accessible by boat, but no worries —there’s a convenient ferry service from Honeymoon Island State Park that’ll get you there in no time.
